I drove by the other day while she was outside her shop sipping coffee and decorating for Fall. I hopped out of the car for a minute to see the inside her shop and couldn't believe how much was inside and displayed so beautifully. Home goods and decorations, and Local ART - paintings, quilts, handmade candles and soaps, baby gifts, housewarming gifts - you name the occasion and Dianne has something for you!
The best part about being in her shop is meeting Dianne. She is beautiful, inside and out. And an inspiration to those wishing to follow their heart to achieve a dream. Dianne did just that.
Dianne has lived in the area most of her life. Born & raised here. She currently lives about 5 miles away from the store on County Line Road, in Cherokee County. She fulfilled one of her dreams when she hung her first wreath on the door and opened it for business on October 20, 2007.
Some of The Story behind The Paisley Farmhouse:
Dianne is a wife and mother of two grown daughters, one married and one in college. Anyone who ever knew her well as an adult, including both her parents, her sister and her family, ner friends and of course her two daughters, and son-in-law, knows how much she dreamed of opening a country store one day. When her girls were little, they often talked about how maybe one day they could open a little shop. Her girls loved the idea of course, and they dreamed and schemed about it for many years. Both daughters are artists, so growing up they were always making, painting, crafting, sewing or doing something really messy in the house.
Speaking of artists, I asked Dianne for the details on some of the ones she is so proud to represent at The Paisley Farmhouse:

Dixie Mesler of Cherokee County - Original Oil Paintings (amazing artist)
Chris Johnson of Cherokee County - Handmade Quilts (daughter of the famous Ernie Johnson/Braves announcer)
Rachel Luna of Cumming with Luna Blue Bath Products, locally made lotions, liquid soaps, sugar scrub, healing balm
(she also makes jewelry for us)
Deanna Sellers of Woodstock - Hand poured soaps that are to die for! She too makes jewelry that appeals to the flower child in all of us!
Laura Dover with The Sophisticated Sardine makes our famous melt in your mouth Loaded Toffee and Spicy Rosemary Bar Nuts! They are flying out the door, I can hardly keep them in stock! Fresh and homemade, you can't beat it . (Laura Dover is also Head mom in charge of B-Who-U R t-shirts ! Her 11 year old son Daniel, who is slightly autistic, design the shirts and he and his mom came up with the idea to sell them and let a portion of the profits for to autism research and related charities. They are so cute, a must see! They come in Youth & adult sizes.)
Zelma Sackett is not local, (Brighton, MI), but she hand paints linen hand towels that are beautiful, and unique.
And new on the block is Emily Kirk of Canton, an incredible talent with fabric and crafts of all kinds. She has designed baby and toddler items you must come in to see!

And now... drum roll please, the part I've been waiting to learn - and tell you - most about: Her mother, Helen. Who is the woman seen in the photo below playing her guitar. (Click on the photo to enlarge the image.)

Following, in Dianne's own words.....
".....About my mom 1st of all, her name was Helen Bolton, before she met my dad (on a blind date) and married him becoming Helen Satterfield. She was born in 1931, she passed away April 11th 2007 at age 75. She is so greatly missed, and it breaks my heart she did not live long enough to see my dream of owning a store come to life for me. But I had a dream not long after I opened where I was in the store straighting up some things before unlocking the door to be "open" for the day that morning, and I heard a knock on the window. I looked around and saw my mom & dad (also passed away in 2000), standing there looking at me smiling soo big and proud at me. I knew even in my dream it was not possible for them to be there because they were no longer with us, but still I ran to the door to let them in so happy to see them, and like that, [poof, I woke up...]. I know this was God's way of letting me know they are with me and love me so much, even though they are not here to tell me themselves.
"The photo was taken somewhere in Cumming, Ga (Forsyth County), probably around 1947 or 48ish or so we think. Several months after my mom passed away, a lady named Katie who was mama's best friend back in her school days mailed my sister and me this picture. We had a fit over the picture because well, it's just so interesting and we had never seen it before. Come to find out we talked to mama's sister Ruth who told us that mama and Katie used to both play the guitar and sing ! Who knew this about my mom! We were blown away! We ask my mom's sister where they would play and she said she could remember them playing at Camp Meeting at Revivals and whatnot. Our mom never mentioned it to our knowledge. I know she was my mom, but I thought she was movie star beautiful, and always was."

More about Dianne's Family:
"My two daughters Shanda (age 26) & India (age 21), (the loves of my life), are kinda the unseen faces who are a huge part of this business. Everything from actual merchandise they make and sell in the store, such as original oil paintings(both girls), and jewelry( by India), to pillows, and other hand sewn items by India. Shanda's biggest seller by far is her Photo transfers we offer to customers. You can bring in old or new photo's as long as there is no copyright issue, to have blown up to 8x8 to 16x20 sizes in black & white, sepia or color. It's a cool thing, makes a unique gift that will always be treasured."
"Oh my goodness.... I have to mention my son-in-law Ben McCloskey (Shanda's husband). He is my web designer (typicaltuesday.com). He created my logo, and he along with Shanda create all my ads of any kind, and help with marketing, branding and future growth ideas constantly. I just don't know what I would do without them. Ben help build this store, he is is a huge factor in it's creation."
And finally she says, "I am so blessed by the Lord, what a great life God has given me. I try to remember this everyday."

Dianne said it best so I kept much of this story in her own words. Walking into her "dream" yourself, you'll understand perfectly why.
